Voted Current Magazine’s “Best Acoustic Band in South Eastern Michigan,” the Ann-Arbor based band Dragon Wagon will perform at Thursday's free Saline Summer Music Series concert, co-sponsored by the Saline Celtic Festival, 7 to 9 p.m., in downtown Saline.
The band, featuring Dickie Delcamp on banjo and vocals, Troy Radikin on mandolin and vocals, Matthew Meyers on bass, Travis Aukerman on drums and percussion, Don Sicheneder on guitar and vocals, and Megan Fitzpatrick, fiddle and vocals will play originals, rock, bluegrass and traditionals.
The band will then play at Saturday’s Saline Celtic Festival in Mill Pond Park, playing Irish tunes, Irish Traditionals and fun dance and sing along tunes at 9 p.m., on the Red Dragon stage.
“Dragon Wagon is ready to play the Saline Celtic Festival -- we’ve been a band for over 8 years and have yet to come and jam for the Festival,” Delcamp says. “Saline has always been great to the band and we have a lot of friends that we’ll be excited to see after our long tour schedule. Dragon Wagon’s music has been known to encourage many trips to the beer tent. We’re looking forward to taking the ride on the Wagon with you!”
Dragon Wagon is joined in Saturday’s day-long musical line up by Stone Clover, Nessa, The Tosspints, Equinox, The Waxies, Corktown Popes, Brother Crowe, Peat in the Creel, Raven Song, Roane, Celtic Jam, Saline Fiddlers Philharmonic, and Chelsea House Orchestra; and Celtic performers, pipe bands, Highland athletes, living history re-enactors, jousters, a zip line ride ($10), laser show, and much more.
Opening ceremonies are 11 a.m., Saturday, and the fun runs through midnight. Tickets at the gate are $5 for ages 13 to 17, $15 for adults. Admission is free for ages 65 and up, ages 12 and under, and active military. Adult tickets are $10 when purchased online and groups of 10 tickets are $80. Tickets are also available at Saline City Hall this week.
Raven Song, The Waxies, Celtic Jam and Stone Clover will also perform at the festival’s Pub Night on Friday, at Mill Pond Park, when the gates open at 5 p.m., and admission is $5. The evening includes Gaelic football, zip line ride, and laser show, and an assortment of Michigan craft beers.
