A blaze caused hundreds of thousands of dollars of damage early Sunday morning on the 6000 block of Textile Road in Lodi Township.

Saline firefighters were dispatched for a “barn fire” around 3:30 a.m. The two-story timber-framed barn/garage was full engulfed in flames when residents called 911 to report the fire, Saline Fire Chief Craig Hoeft said.

“There wasn’t much for us to do but protect nearby exposures,” Hoeft said.

The home was 200 yards away, he said.

The barn and everything in it were lost. Contents included a motorhome, all terrain vehicles and construction equipment.

Hoeft said the extent of the damage made it difficult to pinpoint a cause. Foul play was not suspected, he said.

Hoeft estimated damages of “hundreds of thousands of dollars.”

Firefighters from Manchester and Scio assisted with water.

Firefighters were on the scene until nearly 6 a.m.
