The deadline for schools of choice applications at Saline Area Schools is 4 p.m., Friday, June 10.
The schools of choice lottery takes place Monday morning at Liberty School. Parents hoping to enroll their out-of-district students through Saline Area Schools are not required to attend the lottery. Saline Area Schools officials will notify all applicants of the lottery’s outcome.
Saline Area Schools approved a limited school-of-choice program for the 2016-17 school year. Non-resident students eligible to apply for the available openings must reside in a school district located in either the Washtenaw Intermediate School District (ISD): Ann Arbor, Chelsea, Dexter, Lincoln, Manchester, Milan, Whitmore Lake, Willow Run, and Ypsilanti, or in a school district in one of the ISDs contiguous to Washtenaw County, including Monroe, Lenawee, Ingham, Jackson, Livingston, Oakland and Wayne County.
Parents are responsible for providing transportation to and from school each day. Students may be removed from consideration if they have been suspended from school in the past two years, if they were ever expelled from school, or if they have been convicted of a felony.
The district has at least 40 openings in kindergarten and then at least one opening available in each of the other schools.
The district may open schools of choice positions at a later date. In such a case, the district will use a wait list developed at the lottery.
Applications are available on line ad at the district office at Liberty School.
