The Washtenaw County Sheriff’s office says thieves stole money, credit cards and electronic equipment from a Brookview Highlands neighborhood home while the residents slept this morning.

Sometime between 4:15 and 5 a.m., suspects found a garage door left open in the Lodi Township subdivision. According to police, the suspects went through the vehicles in the garage and then gained entry into the home through an unlocked door. The items were taken from two rooms close to the garage door.

On Nov. 5, a Travis Point resident reported a larceny from an unlocked vehicle parked in a driveway.

A news release from the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office says crimes of opportunity are on the rise and advises residents to lock all doors to vehicles and homes.

Anyone spotting suspicious people in their neighborhood late at night or early in the morning should call 911, according to the release.
