City of Saline
Mayor Brian Marl invited all Saline-area senior citizens to the 2016 Saline Senior Conference June 10.
“I’m looking forward to the fifth year of this annual event,” said Marl. “It’s always a pleasure to spend time with the older residents of our community, and we’re planning a conference that will provide valuable information, as well as allow the opportunity for residents to ask questions and discuss issues important to them.”
City Manager Campbell noted that for the first time in a few years, the city’s projected expenditures (for fiscal year 2017) exceed their revenues. The gap is $249,000. Reasons for lower revenue include an increase in state mandated personal property tax exemptions, and reduced state revenue sharing. New expenditures include a one-time cost for the Michigan Avenue Streetscape Project and the increased annual cost of fire protection.
