Gallery: Lady Hornets Run the Golden Triangle

Jordan Page jumpstarts the Saline 4-by-200 relay.

The Lady Hornets competed against track and field teams from all over Michigan Friday, as Saline High School hosted the Golden Triangle “Meet of Champions” Friday.

Saline’s distance runners and thrower Erin Connor were the story of the meet for the Lady Hornets.

Junior Hannah Cummings was the top finisher for Saline. She was second in the 800 (2:17.39), her fastest time since the regional last year.  Taylor Vaughan (30th, 2:32) and Holly Treber (39th, 2:38) also ran.

Abby Rentschler was fourth in the special mile race (5:08.63).

Jessica Larson finished fourth in the 3200 meter event in career best 10:51.8. Gillian Walter was 14th (11:15), Regan Smith was 25th (12:08), Lillie Phelps was 31st (12:19), Regan Barsch was 34th (12:22) and Haleigh Cummings was 38th (12:41).

The distance medley relay team of Smith, Lauren Green, Vaughan and Haleigh Cummings was second in 13:06. Alexa Reyst, Sophia O’Connor, Hannah Fischer and Danielle Fillmore were sixth.

The 4-by-8 relay team was third in 9:41. A second Saline team placed 11th.

Saline’s 4-by-200 relay teams finished seventh and 25th, while the 4-by-100 teams finished 13th and 24th, and the 4-by-400 teams finished eighth and 21st.

Lillian Scheske was 14th in the 400 (1:02.02). Ashley Amegan was 20th (1:02.5) Alexa Reyst (29th, 1:03.69) and Regan Barsch (49th, 1:08) also ran.

Sara Foley was 15th in the 100 hudles (17.79). Maggie McCarren (32nd, 18.97) and Carrigan Theisen (36th, 19.43) also ran.  Haleigh Cummings was Saline’s fastest in the 300 hurdles (18th, 50.93), finishing ahead of Sydney Chandler (23rd, 52.15), Haugen (26th, 52.65) and Maddie Keith (33rd, 53.89).

Erin Connor was sixth in the shotput (36-08.75). Elaine Schwingel (11th,  33-05.5) and Vic Black (27th, 29-06.75). Connor was fifth in discus (109-00). Schwingel was ninth (103-03) and Black was 28th (81-09)

Lauren Sayre was sixth in high jump (5-00). Kyra Ross was 23rd. Scheske was 11th in pole vault (9 feet), with Haugen (8-06) and Lizzie Weeden (8 feet) also placing.

Saline’s top long jumper was Haugen (14-11). Kaitlyn Mulligan (14 feet) and Nia Lancit (12-03) also jumped.
