SOFTBALL: Dunn's Slam, McCollum's Homer Help Hornets Sweep River Rats

Katherine McCollum hits a home run in game one of Saline's doubleheader with Huron.

Saline returned to winning ways in the SEC Red by winning two games at Ann Arbor Huron Monday, 16-6 and 25-8.

Emily Baldus won the opener. She went six innings and gave up six runs, three earned, on 11 hits. She struck out six and walked none.

Katherine McCollum and Kelsey Alexander led the attack. Alexander went 5-for-5 with four runs scored and two RBI. McCollum was 3-for-5 with a home run, five RBI and two RBI.

Every Hornet in the lineup had a hit. Brooke Bauer went 3-for-5 with a double, two RBI and two runs. Ashley Heren also had two hits. Anna Jo Stuart and Olivia Darmos each doubled and drove in two runs.

McCollum pitched the second game and earned the win. She scattered nine hits and two walks and gave up eight earned runs.

Rachel Dunn hit a grand slam for the Hornets.

Once again, every Hornet in the lineup had a hit.

Lead-off hitter Stuart went 4-for-6 with four hits, three runs and two RBI. Ashley Heren went 4-for-4 with four runs scored and three RBI.

Alexander (three runs), Darmos (three runs and four RBI) and Katie Knight (three runs and one RBI) each had three hits.  Brooke Bauer also had two hits, three RBI and three runs scored.

Saline is 7-3 in the SEC Red.
