The records are piling up for Skyler Bowden. And the Saline High School senior sprinter isn’t done yet.
Saline Boys Track & Field
Saline senior Skyler Bowden, one of the state’s top 200 and 400-meter runners, had lofty goals when he began the outdoor track and field season. Tuesday, Bowden caught many by surprise when, running in the second heat of the 100 meter dash, he went out and broke the school record.
Saline easily bested Pioneer in Thursday’s track and field meet Saline High School, winning 95.5-41.5, to improve to 2-0 in the SEC Red.
Expectations are always high for the Saline boys’ track and field team. The Hornets have won four straight regional championships. Led by a national championship distance medley relay team, the Hornets have every expectation of repeating as SEC and Regional champs. Even more, said coach Al Leslie, the team wants a trophy at the state meet – which means they must finish first or second. Last year, the Hornets were third.
