"Two Months Before the Mast"
Climb aboard a Great Lakes cement freighter and sail the sweet water seas of 1965. Porter Bob Wittersheim takes you on a tour of the J. A. W. Iglehart, the lake's newest steamboat. Then we are off to Cleveland, Green Bay, Duluth and Oswego, New York among our ports of call. Finally, we'll take a trip to Duluth on the S. T. Crapo, the workhorse of the Huron Fleet.
This Saline Area Historical Society program is presented at 2 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 8, in the Brecon Room of the Saline District Library.
The annual Harvest Time included hayrides, farm animals, demonstrations of old-time skills, music by the Saline Fiddlers, a history lesson from the Saline Area Players and more. The event was organized by the Saline Area Historical Society.

On Sept. 20, Pittsfield Charter Township celebrated its heritage with the seventh annual Harvest Festival. Families came to the historic Sutherland-Wilson Farm to hear music, play games, ride on a hay wagon, learn about their history, get close to farm animals and otherwise enjoy the event.
