Saline Hornet Baseball
The Saline Hornets traveled to historical Holland, Mich., on Friday night to prepare for a Saturday doubleheader against the seventh ranked team in the state, the Hudsonville Eagles. The trip home late Saturday afternoon was especially fun after sweeping the doubleheader 9-0, 6-3. Winning both games extended the Hornets record to 12-4 overall, along with a 5-0 record in the SEC.
Michael Hendrickson fanned 12 Mules in the opener, while Bryan Homberg pitched five shutout innings of relief to give the Hornets the chance to come back and win the night cap. The Hornets are 5-0 in the SEC Red.
Monday, Michael Hendrickson and the Hornets got the start they wanted, winning 3-0 in the SEC game and then winning 8-0 for good measure. In the all-important SEC game, Hendrickson, the senior who'll pitch for U of M next year, threw a one hitter, striking out 13 batters and walking just one.
