The Saline Celtic Festival kicks off festivities on Friday, July 11, with “Saline ShamRocks The Park,” a prelude to the all-day festival on Saturday. The party, in Mill Pond Park, features a double bill of the high energy Celtic rock music of Barleyjuice, and the retro music of The Square Pegz, an ’80s tribute band from Detroit.
Here’s a quick rundown on your Friday evening festival fun:
- Gates open at 5 p.m. at Mill Pond Park, and close at midnight.
- Admission is $5.
- Barleyjuice – a Philly-based group also performing July 10 for the evening Summer Music Series in downtown Saline – will rock the night with raucous drinking songs and wild Celtic rock, from 6:30 to 9 p.m.
- The Square Pegz, a female-fronted 80’s pop, rock, and dance tribute act based in Detroit, will replicate the sound of “decade of decadence” with 80’s cover hits, big crimped hair, lots of neon, jelly bracelets and bodacious vocals, and perform from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m.
- Partygoers are invited to join in an Irish Seisun, an Irish Ceili dance, and an English Country/Contra Dance.
The gates will open at 8 a.m. on Saturday, July 12, and the fun runs all day till almost midnight. Tickets at the gate are $5 for ages 13 through 17; $15 for adults; free for active military, seniors, and children 12 and younger. Adult tickets are $10 when purchased online at www.salineceltic.org or purchased at Saline City Hall this week. Visit the website for more information on festival events.
