Margaret Auten, Lifelong Volunteer, Passes Away at 82

Margaret A. Auten, of Saline, passed away peacefully at the age of 82 on Friday, September 12, 2014 at the Saline Evangelical Home in Saline.

She was born January 13, 1932 in Saline, the daughter of Albert C. and Lillian (Teschke) Lange. On August 5, 1955 in Saline, she married Kenneth D. Auten and he survives. During her lifetime Margaret was past president, church counsel member, secretary, and volunteer at St. Paul United Church of Christ in Saline. She also volunteered at the Saline Evangelical Home, donated blood at the Red Cross Blood Drives, and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. In addition, she acted as Chaplin for the Milan American Legion Auxiliary, she volunteered at the Salvation Army Christmas Red Bucket Collection and for the Saline Social Services, and was a Cub Scout Den Mother.

Survivors in addition to her husband Ken include her brother Herbert (Ruth) Lange, and their children Brian (Cheryl) Auten of Hopewell, VA and Joel Auten. Other survivors include grandchildren Jodi Marschall, Lori Parker, and Brad Cherry, and great-grandchildren Alexis and Christopher Marschall, and Zack and Ashley Parker. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, siblings Arlene Saxton, Elmer and Bud Lange, Lorna Ecker, and Lila Watling, Grandson Phillip, daughter-in-law Diane, and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and other dear friends.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Paul United Church of Christ, with Rev. Patricia Kenney officiating. Burial will take place at Oakwood Cemetery in Saline at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to either the Saline Evangelical Home or to Arbor Hospice. Envelopes will be available at the Robison-Bahnmiller Funeral Home in Saline where friends may begin calling on Monday, September 15, 2014 between the hours of 2:00 P.M. and 8:00 P.M. and at the church on Tuesday, September 16, 2014 from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service at 11:00 A.M.
