Saline High School senior Patrick Zetterholm is one of seven academically talented students who have been named National Merit Scholarship semifinalists. Also earning the honor from Saline are Ryan Whitfield, Allison Collins, Louisa Antonelli, Jessica Lipa, Kelly Hall and James Corcoran.

Here's a little more about Patrick Zetterholm, one of the top students at one of America's top high schools.

Parents: Annette and Murray Zetterholm

Favorite Subject: My favorite subject senior year is AP Physics, because it forces me to think in a different way and gives me explanations for phenomena in the world. I really enjoy learning how to quantify and describe these things.

Favorite Teacher: My favorite teacher has been Mrs. Deborah Budnik, who taught AP US History when I was a sophomore. Mrs. Budnik was very knowledgeable about her subject, and also exuded confidence and positivity.
Senior Year Goals: My goals for senior year are to make it through AP Calculus, to finish all of the things I have to do for college applications, and to get as many scholarships as possible for next year.
College Plans: I plan to study chemical engineering at either the University of Michigan or the University of Alabama.
Career Aspiration: I would like to go into the field of chemical engineering because it covers a great variety of subject matter, and I want to something that has both theoretical and real-world elements.
