Record Setting Day for Saline Swim and Dive

Records fell as the the Saline Hornets swim and dive team defeated some of the state’s top teams in a quad meet at Saline High School Saturday.

Saline defeated Hudsonville, 120-65, Holland, 116-70, and Dexter, 115 to 71.

David Boland, Josh Ehrman, Michael Bundas and Adam Whitener started the day off by setting a new school and pool record in the 200-yard medley relay. They finished the race in 1:33.89, winning the race by nearly five seconds. Matt Lund, Lucas Allen, Stefan Koberl and Geoffrey Duong had a strong finish, placing fifth in 1:44.50.

David Boland set a new pool record in the 100 fly. He finished in 49.89 seconds, winning the race by nearly four seconds. Stefan Koberl was fourth in 56.15 seconds.

Josh Ehrman set a new pool record in the 100 breaststroke, finishing in 57.77 seconds, more than three seconds faster than the second place finisher. Lucas Allen was sixth and Geoffrey Duong was sevent.

The 200 freestyle relay team of Boland, Ehrman, Bundas and Whitener were .09 seconds off the pool record. They won the race in 1:26.40. Austin Deal, Ryan Klempter, Jacob Ehrman and Matthew Sieffert were fifth in 1:34.50.

Whitener won the 200 freestyle in 1:44.32. Sieffert was fifth in 1:49.93.

Josh Ehrman won the 200 IM in 1:51.40. Stefan Koberl was sixth in 2:05.97.

Bundas won the 50-yard freestyle in 21.78.

Sam Blair won the diving event with a score of 240.20. Dustin Wall was second with a score of 211.05. Ethan Johnson and Alex Calder finished fourth and fifth.

Whitener’s second victory came in the 100-free style, where he finished in 46.41, just .13 seconds off the pool record. Bundas was second in 48.05.

Sieffert made the Division 1 cut in the 500-freestyle, finishing fourth in 4:55.93. Jacob Ehrman was fifth in 5:01.79.

Boland’s second win came in the 100 backstroke. He finished in 53 seconds. Lund was sixth in 59.51.

Saline’s 400-relay team of Jacob Ehrman, Sieffert, Lund and Koberl finished fourth in the 400-freestyle (3:24.66).
