The Saline Area Schools Board of Education meets at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in the media center at Liberty School.
Newly appointed school board trustee Paul Hynek will be sworn in.
Outside of the consent agenda, there are no action items on the agenda.
The board will have a study session on school safety and security. During study session, the board will also discuss the Feb. 2 board retreat.
The board will also hear two presentations. Assistant Superintendent for Instructional Services Steve Laatsch will speak about the upcoming Empty Bowls benefit. Saline Area Schools visual art students, music students and culinary arts students provide ceramic bowls, music and soup, bread and desserts in the annual event, which raises money for Food Gatherers of Washtenaw County. Cost is $12 per person or $40 per family. Tickets can be purchased at any school building or online.
Cheryl Hoeft and Charlene Stoddard, of the Saline Area Schools Historical Preservation Foundation, will also appear before the board to present a series of quilts the organization has made. The organization supports programming and maintenance of the Weber Blaess One Room Schoolhouse.
