Award-winning blues artist Luke Winslow-King is returning to Saline’s Stony Lake Brewing, 447 E. Michigan Ave., for a solo show on Saturday, Oct. 19 at 8 p.m., just days after wrapping up his latest European tour.

Born and raised in the Northern Michigan town of Cadillac, Winslow-King moved to New Orleans at 19 and spent the next 15 years fully immersing himself in the musical waters that flow through there.

All-Music Guide founder Michael Erlewine called him a “brilliant songwriter and composer,” and The New York Times described his music as “A boiled-down live, almost improvised sound that seamlessly melds Delta blues, gospel and jazz themes with personal, simplified lyrics.”

American Songwriter magazine heaped praise on his Blue Mesa, has his latest album.  “On Blue Mesa, Luke Winslow-King reflects on his strengths, weaknesses and need to keep moving with the lyrical and musical integrity of a heartbroken journeyman who understands, believes in and respects the road ahead and behind.”  It’s the follow up to his equally critically acclaimed 2016 release, I’m Glad Trouble Don’t Last Always. Here’s a selection of tracks from both: Blue Mesa  No More Crying Today  One My Way  and Chicken Dinner.

The cover is $15 at the door (cash or card) and 100 percent goes to the artist.
