The City of Saline Art and Culture Committee will hold a presentation on the Bixby Marionettes, in The Brecon Room of the Saline District Library, on December 10 at 7 p.m.
John Anderson, vice chair of the committee, will present an overview of activities and accomplishments with the collections since the beginning of the year.
Erik Grossmann, from the Saline Historical Society, will contextualize the collections with a historic overview of Meredith Bixby's career.
Jim Cameron, from the Michigan Oral History Association, will discuss MOHA's Bixby oral history project that he has been conducting.
The event will also function as an opportunity to announce the recent award the Art and Culture Committee received from the MCACA and The Arts Alliance.
The lecture is an extension of an exhibition of photographs and papers from the Bixby archive, on display in the Library through the end of January. Both the exhibition and lecture are supported by a Schrandt grant.
People interested to attend the lecture may register through thelibrary's website. Registration is not required.
This City of Saline committee is charged with encouraging the growth and expansion of culture and arts in the community in the areas of visual arts, drama, music, dance, historical heritage and humanities.
