City, county and state officials applaud the Saline Fiddlers ahead of their annual Hometown Concert on Feb. 9.

Saline Mayor Brian Marl, the Washtenaw County Board of Commissioners and Michigan Senator Jeff Irwin are all recognizing the artistry and unique history of The Saline Fiddlers Philharmonic, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2019.

Sen. Irwin, a longtime champion of public education who represents the state’s 18th district, including the City of Saline, will honor the Fiddlers in person during their annual Hometown Show, which is Saturday, Feb. 9 at Saline High School.  The concert includes a set by Fiddlers alumnus and 2019 Grammy-nominee Jeremy Kittel with his band Kittel & Company.

Mayor Marl’s proclamation captures important milestones in the Fiddler’s history:

Whereas: Saline Fiddlers Philharmonic is America’s premier youth fiddling show band from Saline, Michigan and astounds audiences every time the group takes the stage; and

Whereas, Saline Fiddlers Philharmonic will celebrate their 25th anniversary in 2019 with several special events, including opening for bluegrass legend Ricky Skaggs; and

Whereas, The Fiddlers perform 50-plus shows each hear, and frequently waive or reduce fees for schools, seniors and veterans’ groups, bringing inspiration to these important audiences, and

Whereas, The Saline Fiddlers history includes more than 1,500 performances in the majority of the states in our nation, and has been honored to perform three times at the White House and twice on the Millennium Stage at the Kennedy Center, as well as at the State of Michigan’s Presidential Ball; and

Whereas, Saline Fiddlers Philharmonic has produced recordings bi-annually since its inception, providing a means for fans to enjoy their music at all times, and a way to retain a historical record of the evolution of this special youth string ensemble.

Now, Therefore, Be It Resolved, that I, Brian D. Marl, Mayor of the City of Saline, do hereby recognize and congratulate Saline Fiddlers Philharmonic on their 25th Anniversary, and wish them success today and always.
