Singer-songwriter Clarence Bucaro.

Rolling Stone Magazine is heaping praise on singer-songwriter Clarence Bucaro who returns to the Acoustic Routes stage at Stony Lake Brewing, 447 E. Michigan Ave., Saline on Saturday, July 7 at 8 p.m.

Earlier this year, the magazine called him one of the "10 New Country Artists You Need to Know."  In the article, they called his song Sleepwalker a gently soulful admonition to someone who can't open his eyes to the vast, colorful world around him.  Now Rolling Stone has named another new Bucaro song called Passionate Kind one of the 10 Best Country and Americana Songs of the Week.

Passionate Kind, they wrote, is "a gentle folk ballad about a complicated woman whose complications are worth dealing with.  It's romantic and refreshing as it is barbed with cautionary wisdom."  Bucaro sings, "She knows every line of Shakespeare by heart...Says 'love and betrayal are only inches apart...You gotta watch what you say or she'll send you away."

Bucaro has had musical homes in New Orleans, Los Angeles and New York City. He originally hails from outside Cleveland, Ohio. When he was just twenty years old, he thru-hiked the Appalachian Trail carrying a Martin backpacker guitar.  He wrote his first album “Sweet Corn” on the trip, and it caught the attention of an Americana record label in Portland, Oregon. Soon Clarence found himself on tour with The Blind Boys of Alabama and Mavis Staples, playing to sold out theaters across America.

Bucaro's show at Stony Lake Brewing begins at 8 p.m. The cover is $15 at the door and 100% of the proceeds go to the artist.
