Ever thought about directing a play, but feel like you need some guidance? This opportunity, sponsored by the Saline Area Players, may be for you! Curtain Up: Directing Workshop is a chance for any would-be director to learn the basics about directing. Saline Area Players will hold an Informational Meeting about the project on February 18 at 1 PM at Liberty School, 7265 N. Ann Arbor St., Saline, MI. We encourage anyone who may be interested to attend this meeting to gain more information. If you cannot attend the meeting, we encourage you to email us at firstname.lastname@example.org to let us know that you will be coming to the auditions and to ask any questions.
Participants chosen during auditions (March 15 & 16) will be designated as directors and/or actors. Rebecca Groeb, well known for her theater work in Saline - she began in the Saline Area Players as a child and is the current Cultural Arts Specialist/Theater Manager for Saline Area Schools - is the artistic director/instructor for the project. Those chosen will benefit from a 3-hour director training during the first week. Following that, during four weeks of rehearsal, plus a show week, participants will work on 4-5 chosen scenes and each participant will be involved in 1-2 scenes. Rebecca will offer guidance and advice to the directors in a very interactive process where all will be afforded opportunities to give suggestions about directing choices. The cost is $50/person for this excellent instruction.
