SAP announces cast for Oliver!

Rehearsals are underway for Saline Area Players’ upcoming production of Lionel Bart’s Oliver! The first rehearsal took place this week and the full cast was there.  The show, based on Charles Dickens’ Oliver Twist, which will be performed October 20-22 at the Saline HS, is directed by by Rebecca L Groeb with musical direction by Robert Cindric.

The story set in Victorian England centers around a young orphan boy Oliver as he does his best to navigate the dark and gritty London underworld of theft and violence, desperately searching for a home, a family, and most importantly, love.  He is welcomed into a gang of child pickpockets led by the conniving, but charismatic Fagin.  He is falsely accused of a theft he did not commit and rescued by a kind and wealthy gentleman.  The story continues from there as evil Bill Sykes connives to get him back while warm-hearted Nancy is caught in the middle….
