On Thursday, April 20 (not May 20), PBS-featured author "Doc" Fletcher will share photos and entertaining stories from his latest book, "Canoeing and Kayaking College Campuses in Michigan," at Saline District Library, from 7-8 pm. At the end of the program he will raffle off a gift certificate for a free canoe/kayak day trip donated by liveries/rentals across the state.
Enjoy a photo journal of some of his exciting paddling adventures, including the Huron River's "Argo Cascades" on the northern edge of the University of Michigan; the Rouge River to the waterfall at Fair Lane, the Henry Ford Estate, alongside UM-Dearborn; exploring the Bete Grise River and Preserve near Michigan Tech in the U.P.'s Keweenaw Peninsula; canoeing and kayaking through the Red Cedar River rapids that begin in front of MSU's Administration Building; and paddling the Huron as is hugs the north and east side of EMU's campus. You don't have to be a paddling enthusiast to enjoy the presentation, but you may become one by the time it ends.
Doc's books on canoeing and kayaking in Wisconsin and Michigan will be available for sale and signing. To learn more about his books, go to www.canoeingmichiganrivers.com.
