Community Invited to Participate in Holiday Parade, Treasure Trails to Santa

The Saline Area Chamber of Commerce invites the communiuty to participate in the 38th Annual Holiday Parade in Saline at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, December 7.

The parade is well known as one of the biggest and best Holiday Parades in all of Southeast Michigan. “

Santa’s Village” will be at Stone Arch Arts and Events at 117 S. Ann Arbor St. following the arrival of Santa at the end of the Parade, and also on December 9-10 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Celebration activities will continue throughout Holiday Week in Saline culminating with “Treasure Trail to Santa” at Busch’s Plaza on Saturday, Dec. 14.

This year's theme is “A Charlie Brown Christmas.” All parade entries, other than marching musical units, are requested to comply with the theme.

Check on the Entry Form (below) your type of parade entry and all other items that apply. Line-up details will be sent to you a few days before the parade via email or fax.

The parade line-up starts at 4:30 p.m. at City Hall parking lot and along Davenport and Detroit streets. Non-Parade vehicles will not be permitted on Davenport Street and the east part of Detroit Street. Floats must be in line-up no later than 4:30 p.m. to be included in the float judging and Santa’s Cup Contests. There will be recognition and a prize for the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners and invited businesses will be competing for Santa’s Cup. Nonprofit community organizations that enter a Float may be able to receive a $100 cost deferral award if applied for (see page 2 of Parade Entry Form).

All other units should be in line-up by 4:50 p.m. Be sure to look for your assigned space number which you will be given ahead of time and again at check-in.

The parade route is the same as previous years. Parade units will enter Michigan Avenue from Davenport Street and proceed west, turn right on Lewis Street. and then right on McKay Street to Union School, which is the end of the parade route.

Floats should be no more than 15 feet high and 30 feet long (not including the pulling vehicle). Indicate on the entry form the “title” of your float, the number of people riding on the float, the type of pulling vehicle, the number of people walking alongside the float, animals, music, etc. Candy should be handed out, not thrown. The chamber asks that nobody enter a Santa in the parade.

Carolers, Entertainers Invited to Treasurer Trail to Santa

Your group is invited to provide carolers, sidewalk entertainers, petting animals, or people in costumes during the “Treasure Trail to Santa” through the shops at Busch’s Shopping Plaza on December 14 from 10 a.m. to 1;30 p.m., where a visit with Santa, horse-drawn carriage rides, entertainment, and treats will be a part of the fun. Indicate your time preferences on the entry form.
