A big second half against Huron Friday left Saline varsity lacrosse coach Matt Ceo confident about Monday’s tilt against a strong Skyline team.

The Hornets (5-3, 2-1) picked up where they left off, defeating Skyline 13-4.

Saline wasted no time, scoring three goals in the first 1:07 of the game.

Tommy Hickey scored from Nick Karpas 30 seconds into the affair. Just 17 seconds later, Sam Ozminkowski scored from Hickey. And Karapas scored an unassisted goal 20 seconds later to give Saline the early lead.

The Hornets kept the pedal to the metal. Ozminkowski, Karapas, Hickey (twice) and Brett Braun scored first quarter goals as Saline led 8-1 after the first.

Hickey finished the game with five goals and three assists. Ozminkowski scored four times. Karapas finished with three goals and an assist. Braun tallied a goal and assist.

Sean Corocoran led the team with six ground balls. Griffin Sibo scooped up five ground ball sand Mark Hoffman picked up four.

Matt Baxter was 10-for-16 on faceoffs.

Tyler Cowan turned away 17 of 21 shots in goal. The Hornets host Tecumseh Wednesday at 7 p.m.

JV LAX Still Undefeated

Saline’s junior varsity team downed Skyline 10-2 and remains undefeated this season.
