Max Richard Balden, of Saline, passed away at the age of 67 on Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at his home. Max was born on June 17, 1945 in Detroit, the son of Alvin R. and Alice M. (Cook) Balden.

On April 26, 1980 in Ann Arbor, he married Deborah Ann Seely, and she survives. Max received his B.A. from Adrian College and later a Masters Degree from Notre Dame. Max loved dogs, jazz music, and especially gardening. Max was head of the Southfield Chamber of Commerce, head of the Ypsilanti Visitors and Convention Bureau, and was Assistant Director of the Ann Arbor Chamber of Commerce. He was also Manager of Front Entrance Services at University of Michigan Hospital for many years until his retirement in 2007.

Survivors in addition to his wife Deborah include sons David Balden of Orlando, Fla., and Adam Balden of Ypsilanti, and a sister Janet L. Keys of Kalamazoo. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Sylvia Southan. Cremation has taken place.
