The Saline girls' golf team placed third in the rain soaked Bedford Invitational today played at Bedford Hills Golf Course. The Hornets shot a team low 319 to finish behind Toledo St. Ursula (315) who beat Ann Arbor Pioneer (315) on a fifth person tiebreak.
Emily White tied for medalist with Hannah Kochendoerfer, Bedford, with both shooting one over par 72. But White lost in a one-hole playoff when Kochendoerfer eagled the par-five ninth hole on the Wolverine course. Samantha Kellstrom finished third overall with a two-over par 73. Stacy Cruze continued her good play with an 83 that included a 37 on the Buckeye course. Caitlin Swiney shot a personal best 91 for the Hornets.
"This was a good tournament to lead up to regionals this Thursday. The team continues to improve which we need to do if we want to compete in the post-season," Saline coach Betsy French said.
