The Saline men's varsity soccer team kept their conference unbeaten streak alive with a 6-0 win over host Monroe on Thursday.
The Hornets got goals from six different players. Junior Jake Cohen struck first at 27:27 when he threaded through several defenders and found the back of the net. One minute later, senior Tom Nissen took a pass from senior Arman Astani and beat the right defender for Saline's second goal.
At 21:53, senior Rob Smith one-timed a cross from Nissen to make it 3-0. Senior Zach Jordan scored his second goal in two games when he buried a rebound off the post. Senior Ryan Gauche scored his first goal of the season when he took a loose ball near the right side of the net and beat the Monroe keeper.
Junior Jared Walls scored the Hornets' final goal off a free kick at 36:35 of the second period.
Senior Chris Graber earned the shutout win as goalie. Saline has shut out opponents 11 times this season.
Saline is now 9-0-1 in Southeastern Conference play and 12-1-2 overall. They travel to Ann Arbor to play Huron on Oct. 8 for their final conference game.
