Hornets Remain Unbeaten in SEC Soccer, Defeat Lincoln 5-1

Led by two goals from Sophomore Bogdan Pintilie, Saline overcame a scrappy Lincoln varsity soccer squad to win 5-1 on Tuesday and preserve their unbeaten streak in Southeastern conference play.

The Hornets struck first at 20:33 when Senior Arman Astani rifled in a cross from Senior Tom Nissen for his fifth goal of the season. Senior Captain Ryan Wilkie kicked in a rebound eight minutes later to put Saline up 2-0.

Saline's third goal came at 3:48 in the first half when Senior Zach Jordan shot the ball into the box from the right side where it deflected off a Lincoln player into the net.

Pintilie's first goal came at 12:37 of the second period when he took a pass in the box and beat the Lincoln keeper to the right. He scored again several minutes later when he battled his way through several defenders and sent the ball into the left side of the net. Pintilie leads the team with seven goals this season.

Senior Chris Graber and Junior Captain Noah Taritas split goal-keeping duties for the evening,

Saline's conference record now stands at 8-0-1. They are 11-1-2 overall.

The Hornets travel to Monroe on Oct. 3 for their third game this week.
