Despite driving rain, more than 1,000 people participated in the annual Saline Christmas Parade Saturday in downtown Saline.

Local radio show host Lucy Ann Lance was emcee. Business owner and former citizen of the year Karen Ragland was the Grand Marshal.

Business Enterprise Award winners Crispin Chevrolet, represented by Debbie Crispin, and Mancino's Pizza, represented by Jeff and Katie Spence, were also featured in the parade.

The parade also featured performances by the Saline High School marching band.

The parade was led by Police Chief Jerrod Hart and Officer Dave Ringe. They were followed by a military color guard and then representatives from the Saline American Legion and local Veterans of Foreign Wars post.

Keeping with recent tradition, the final three parade entrants were the kickline from Dance Alliance, the Saline Area Fire Department, and Santa Claus.

Santa was joined by special guest Melanie Fernandez, who won the the Saline Area Chamber of Commerce coloring contest.
