With the help of community participants from Busch’s Fresh Food Market’s All About Children (ABC) Food Drive last month, Busch’s Fresh Food Market has donated $5,000 to Saline Area Social Service.
“It’s incredible is see the level of commitment from both Busch’s Fresh Food Market and the Saline community throughout the entire year,” said Anne Cummings, Executive Director at Saline Area Social Service (SASS). “Busch’s Fresh Food Market hosts fundraising events throughout the year benefitting SASS, and with the Busch’s Fresh Food Market gift cards that they donate to us, we’re able to purchase bread for our clients every week.”
Busch’s Fresh Food Market ABC Food Drive is a community-based effort where food and dollars raised goes toward helping families who can’t afford to feed their children, especially during the summer months when their children are home from school.
Approximately 550 students in Saline qualify for the Saline Area School’s free or reduced lunch program, and during the summer months when these students aren’t receiving these meals, many families turn to SASS for additional support and food supply.
In addition to donating to Saline Area Social Service, Busch’s Fresh Food Market in Saline also donated the remaining portion of the ABC Food Drive proceeds to Food Gatherers. Both Busch’s Fresh Food Market and Food Gatherers are instrumental partners in helping Saline Area Social Service maintain success.
