In the wake of “School Closures” and “Stay Safe and Stay Home” Executive Orders, Tim Austin and Brandon Hertel at A&H Lawn Service, Inc., are challenging the Saline community to support Saline Area Social Service (SASS) as needs for food and aid continue to rise. Now through April 30th, A&H Lawn Service, Inc. is pledging to match up to a total of $5,000 raised in donations for Saline Area Social Service.
Unprecedented closures of non-essential businesses and Saline Area Schools have left many households in the Saline area facing insurmountable financial burdens and struggling to meet basic needs for their families. In addition to tight budgets and minimal savings, the majority of those facing this situation also do not receive sick leave as a benefit of employment. Providing aid and supporting those in need to those living in the Saline community is Saline Area Social Service’s mission. Beyond distributing weekly supplies of food to households in need of support, SASS also provides emergency aid, such as rent and utility assistance and prescription co-pays.
“A&H Lawn Service, Inc. truly values our community and believes we have a responsibility to do what we can to help those who are most vulnerable during these unprecedented times,” states Tim Austin, co-owner of A&H Lawn Service. All donations raised as a part of this effort will help to cover expenses of financially-challenged families living in the Saline area.
“Our community needs support in so many ways right now,” said SASS Executive Director, Anne Cummings. “SASS is grateful to A&H Lawn Service, Inc. for leading this effort and encouraging support to low-income families who will greatly benefit from this initiative.”

Saline Area Social Service (SASS) is a private, tax-exempt non-profit organization that has been in the community for over 50 years. Relying 100% on community donations, SASS serves the most vulnerable students, families and senior citizens who live in the Saline Area School District. With approximately 1,000 Saline area families living below poverty level and 650 students receiving free or reduced lunch every day, it’s SASS’s mission to provide our short and long term aid, directly and through referrals, to those living in the Saline area that need aid.
