The Saline Fiddlers will the celebrate the group’s 25th anniversary with a special Hometown Show Saturday, February 9, 6:30pm at the Ellen Ewing Performing Arts Center at Saline High School. The show will feature:
- An hour set by Grammy-nominated Saline Fiddler alum Jeremy Kittel & Co.
- A short set performed by a group of Fiddler alumni who are now professional musicians
- An hour set by the 2018-19 Saline Fiddlers, including both new music and old classics.
- A special fiddle arrangement commissioned by Saline Fiddler founder Bob Phillips especially for this show.

Jeremy Kittel grew up in Saline and performed with the Saline Fiddlers in during his high school years. He went on to earn a masters degree from the University of Michigan School of Music and has performed all over the world as a violinist and fiddler. He has produced several albums over the years, both as a soloist and as a member of his current group, Kittel & Co. The group’s 2018 release, called “Whorls” hit number #1 on Billboard’s Bluegrass chart and includes the Grammy nominated track called “Chrysalis”. After his performance at the Saline Fiddlers Hometown Show on the evening on February 9th, Kittel and his group will fly to California to attend the Grammy Awards ceremony on February 10th.
A Rich History Is Celebrated
The concept launched in 1994 by Bob and Pam Phillips was a new one – teach an alternative form of music to a group of talented high schoolers and equip them to perform at public music venues everywhere. Soon, audiences everywhere were astounded by their energetic and polished presentation. Word began to spread about this unique and entertaining group of young fiddlers from Saline, MI. They were soon traveling throughout the country on summer tours, playing internationally and even at the White House. Over the past 25 years the Saline Fiddlers have performed over 1,500 shows at venues around the world and remain a huge draw at summer concert events everywhere they go.
