It was a gorgeous evening for Salty Summer Sounds Thursday night as Chelsea's Thunderwude performed, kicking off the 2019 edition of the Saline Celtic Festival. Thunderwude guitarist Jason Dennie remarked more than once that it was a perfect evening for live outdoor music.

Ancient Athletics once again offered children's versions of the Highland competitions and other activities for kids. Adult supervisors from Ancient Athletics included Merl Lawless, Dave Macdonna, and Sarah Moore. Kids participated in a light-weight version of the caber toss, tug-of-war, tossing competitions.

The evening was a perfect prelude to the start of the Celtic Festival with Pub Night Friday night, and the start of the festival Saturday at 10 a.m. when gates open at the festival grounds at Millpond Park in Saline.
