Saline Oktoberfest 2019 kicks off Friday night in downtown Saline. The festival begins at 5 p.m.

Saline Main Street will ceremonially launch this year’s event at 6:30 p.m. with the annual "Tapping of the Golden Keg," by festmaster Linda TerHaar. TerHaar is a member of the Saline-Lindenberg Friendship Committee, a group dedicated to promoting relations between residents of Saline and their sister city in Germany. TerHaar, also a member of Saline City Council, has spent many Oktoberfest hours in the bratwurst booth.

Among the beverages you'll enjoy in the biergarten are Bud Light, Spaten Lager, Franziskaner, Spaten Oktoberfest, Blake’s Flannel Mouth, Perrin Brewing Company Grapefruit IPA, and Salt Springs Brewery Kick Axe Kolsch.

At 8 p.m., Your Generation takes the stage to entertain audiences with hit songs.

Food vendors include Busch's Fresh Food Market, Saline-Lindenberg Friendship Committee, Saline Kiwanis Club, Saline Lions Club (ice cream) and, on Friday, the South and West Washtenaw Consortium culinary arts students will sell baked goods.

There is a $5 cover for people 21 and older. Identification is required. No pets are allowed after 7:30 p.m.
