There is something fun for every one of every age again this year at Saline Oktoberfest! Be sure you answer “yes” when your friends and neighbors ask: “Are you festing??”
Saline Main Street will host its annual Oktoberfest celebration on Friday, September 22 and Saturday, September 23. Our community event is fun for the whole family and offers live entertainment, games for all ages, German and American food booths, and a special Kinderplatz for children, providing crafts, music, and those bouncers that every child loves!
The event commences with the opening of the Oktoberfest Bier Garten on Friday, September 22 from 5 -11 PM, serving a variety of food and offering a wide selection of German, craft and standard beer, and wine.
Don’t miss the official opening ceremony, “Tapping of the Golden Keg” at 6:45 PM! Come early to watch a beautiful team of Heffelfinger horses draw a charming wagon with the Golden Keg to the Bier Garten entrance on South Ann Arbor Street Mayor Brian Marl will also be on board to welcome the crowd! Exclusive ceramic Oktoberfest Bier Steins will be available this year for $20.
Oktoberfest in Saline also means great German and American cuisine! Look for a wide variety of delicious food choices in the Bier Garten both Friday (5 PM – 11 PM) and Saturday (10 AM – 11 PM). Participating food vendors include:

In addition, Friday night will feature the Saline High School South & West Consortium Culinary Arts Department Annual Bake Sale on S. Ann Arbor Street, at 5:00 PM. Your support for this High School class will be greatly appreciated.
Oktoberfest offers live music for every taste, beginning Friday night. Our headliner, Your Generation, returns by popular demand to entertain the crowd at 8:00 PM! Your Generation in Concert™ is a live multimedia spectacular celebrating six decades of American and British pop/rock hits. The group is an international favorite for the celebrity set, corporations, festivals, casinos, and private events. Led by a nine-piece band, their music transports the audience on a musical journey through the soundtrack of their lives. There is a $5 cover charge for those 21 and over on Friday night only, with free admission for those 20 and younger. Don’t miss an opportunity to rock under the stars with this amazing group!
The musical entertainment continues at the Main Stage on Saturday, beginning at Noon until 11 pm. Our Saturday night headliner, returning this year to rave reviews, The Phoenix Theory Band, will rock the crowd from 8 PM - 11 PM.
Whether you are a spectator or participant, our Oktoberfest games are enjoyed by everyone! Saline’s crowd favorite, the Hammerspiel contest, will be held on Saturday night at 6 PM. This game is a tournament of skill (and luck!) that is as much fun to watch as it is to play. Challenge your friends by signing up near the information tent on Saturday. Prizes will be awarded to first and second place winners. The contest is free to enter, sign up online here.
The Corn Hole Challenge returns with competition for all ages on Saturday afternoon, starting at 3 PM. Registration is for three categories:
- Kid’s Challenge at 3 PM (limited to 8 two-person teams, both participants must be under the age of 18)
- Family Challenge at 4 PM (limited to 8 two-person teams, one participant must be under 18 and both must be family members)
- Adult Challenge at 5 PM (limited to 13 two-person teams, both participants must be at least 18)
Get your two-person teams together and sign up in advance for the challenge here. There will be prizes awarded for the top team in each category.
The hilarious Wiener Dog Races are back again this year! Sign up here and come to watch the fun on Saturday at 3:30 PM. Rules and online registration can be completed here until 4 PM on Friday, September 22rd. Pre-registration is $10 and strongly encouraged. On-site registration is $15 and may be completed the day of the event starting at 2:30 PM on S. Ann Arbor St. Prizes will be awarded for the first, second and third place finalists as well as for the Costume Contest Winner! The costume contest is open to all breeds.
For our young Festers, Kinderplatz will be located on S. Ann Arbor St. on Saturday from 10 am to 3 pm. This event is a special treat for kids with free activities, including a variety of bouncers, games and crafts. In addition, Kinderplatz offers entertainment and shows to delight the whole family, including:
- Make-n-Take Crafts
- Fun and game booths hosted by local church and businesses
- Nelson’s Wildlife Safari live exotic animal and reptile show (two shows at 12-1PM and 1-2PM)
- Scarecrow Making Demonstration with Dr. Rob Borer
- Antique Tractor Exhibit
And don’t forget to pay a visit to the weekly Saline Farmer’s Market, from 8 AM to 12 PM, for a wonderful assortment of fresh local produce, nursery items and hand made goods. Due to the Oktoberfest event, you can find them on the parking lot off Henry Street, behind Mac’s Acadian Seafood Shack.
