Former Saline Mayor Gretchen Driskell plans to announce her candidacy for the United States House of Representatives at 9A.M. on Wednesday, July 19th. Driskell is seeking to represent Michigan’s 7th Congressional District.
Driskell will make the announcement at the Saline Recreation Center, which she helped lead the efforts to build 25 years ago. Driskell will also meet with voters in Delta Township at Dimitri’s Restaurant at 12:30PM.

Driskell is a three term city councilwoman, seven term mayor, and two term state representative for the 52nd District in the Michigan House of Representatives. In addition to 14 years as Saline mayor, Driskell served six years on the Saline city council, and built a successful career in Saline as a real estate agent and accountant. Today Gretchen continues to live in Saline and is the proud mother of three children, Ryan, Matthew an Ensign in the U.S. Navy, and Marielle and her granddaughter Chloe.
As a member of City Council, as Mayor, and as State Representative, Gretchen Driskell has been a strong advocate for small businesses, working families, public education, and the environment.
The 7th District includes all of Monroe, Lenawee, Hillsdale, Branch, Jackson and Eaton Counties, as well as western Washtenaw County. The seat is currently held by Republican Tim Walberg.
