With the holidays nearing, there are festivities planned all around Saline. Here’s a look at some of the events you and your family can enjoy without leaving your community this week.

Santa at Salt Springs Brewery

What: Santa makes the first of two stops at Salt Springs Brewery Saturday.
When: 12 to 2 p.m.
Where:  Salt Springs Brewery (Ann Arbor and Henry Street)
Why: Bring your family and enjoy a great brunch (eggs benedict, pancakes, potatoes and mimosas) and then bring your camera and take a picture with Santa on his sleigh!
Cost: Pictures are free.

Coffee and Chocolate Tasting at Carrigan

What: Carrigan Café hosts Mindo Chocolate Makers and Coffee Express Roasting Co for two tasting events.
When: 11-11:45 a.m. and 12-12:45 p.m., Saturday
Where:  Carrigan Café, 107 S. Ann Arbor St.
Why: Taste Chocolate from Dexter’s Mindo Chocolate Makers and sample coffee from Plymouth’s Coffee Express Roasting Co. You can also take some home – a perfect stocking stuffer or secret Santa gift
Cost: $25. Only 20 tickets available.

Pet Photos with Santa

What: Lots of places offer pictures with Santa. But do they let you bring your pet? Walk-ins welcome. Call 429-5431 for an appointment.
When: 11 a.m., Saturday
Where: Pets-N-Things, 541 E. Michigan Ave
Why: Unique photo opportunity for your family (pets are family, right?) All proceeds go to Greyhound Expressions rescue.
Cost: Photos are $15 for a sheet and printed on the spot.

Christmas at the Rentschler Farm

What: Experience Christmas as it was in a Depression-era farmhouse in Saline.
When: 1 to 4 p.m., Saturday and Sunday
Where: Rentschler Farm Museum, 1265 E. Michigan Ave.
Why: The Saline Area Historical Society presents this annual event. Tour the historic farm house. Enjoy cookies and cider. There will be demonstrations and kids activities. You’ll also see Santa and his sleigh.
Cost: Donations accepted.

Dance Alliance presents The Nutcracker

What: The Nutcracker
When: 7 p.m. Saturday and 3 p.m., Sunday
Where: Saline High School
Why: The Dance Alliance presentation of The Nutcracker is a Saline holiday tradition celebrating its 21st year.
Cost: $15

Kids Holiday Spectacular

What: Maplewood Lanes is throwing a big party for kids
When: 12-4 p.m.., Sunday
Where: Maplewood Lanes, 830 Woodland Drive.
Why: The staff at Maplewood Lanes have put together an afternoon of cookies, drinks, games and fun. Bowling is available. No reservations required. Just show up!
Cost: Free.

Longest Night Service

What: The Longest Night Service is an Advent service of light and hope.
When: 5 p.m., Sunday
Where: First Presbyterian Church
Why: It’s a service of light and hope in the midst of darkness and despair.  A light supper follows in the Fellowship Hall. Nursey Care is available.
