Last week’s announcement naming Saline as Michigan’s best place to raise kids was a feather in the cap for volunteers who organize the city’s Celtic Festival.

The very brief article by Businessweek Bloomberg contained two short sentences about Saline. One sentence was about Ann Arbor. The other was about the Celtic Festival.

A man was stopped by police near Textile Road and Ann Arbor Saline Road. He ran into nearby neighborhoods and began knocking on doors, police say.

The Hornets won every single event in their season opening victory over Ypsilanti.

The Saline Hornets wrestling team celebrated senior night Thursday by pinning down Pioneer and Lincoln.

Saline defeated Pioneer, 50-13, and bested Lincoln, 59-16.

Against Pioneer Kyle Boxeth (112) won 5-3, Taylor Ticknor (119) won by Tech fall, Adam Bruley (130) won by TechFall, Nate O’Sullivan (135) won by 12-4, Dustin Funk won by Pin (145), Alex Cornelius (152) won by pin, Ryan Wellings (160) won by pin, Ryan Nagy (171) won 3-1,  Brandon Helle (189) won by void, and Austin Sullivan (285) won by pin.

Up by just four with sharpshooter Reece Dils headed for the bench in foul trouble, Saline coach Eric Williams needed his secondary scorers to hold the fort.

They did more than that. They added a second story, as Saline defeated Adrian 63-44. The Hornets improved to 4-1 with a big home game against Ypsilanti Friday night.

Dils scored 18 points in just 21 minutes of work.

David Elms scored 21 points to lead Saline.

Saline's junior varsity girls' basketball team fell to Bedford at home Tuesday, 27-24.

Gillian Walter scored nine points to lead the Lady Hornets. Jordan Page added eight points.
