Appearing both beautiful and delicious, the elaborate gingerbread houses showcased at the Saline Moonlight Craft Show had another purpose.

They helped raise money to support the Weber-Blaess Schoolhouse.

In all, the gingerbread house competition raised over $700 for the Weber-Blaess Schoolhouse, according to Brian Puffer, Director of Community Education for Saline Area Schools.

Fire Chief Hoeft passed along these holiday decorating safety tips from the U.S. Fire Administration.

 

Local emergency services agencies and Meijer joined forces to help 40 kids complete holiday shopping Thursday night.

Officers of the Saline Police Department joined members of the Pittsfield Township Department of Public Safety for the second annual “Shop With a Hero” program at the Meijer store on Ann Arbor-Saline Road.

Armed with $2,000 in gift cards provided by Meijer, children and parents shopped the aisles with police officers and firefighters.

Max Recknagel, Reece Dils and Michael Hendrickson led Saline's comeback against Canton at Saturday's home opener.

The season of Christmas, of Santa’s elves and reindeer bells, of carolers singing Silent Night and Christmas trees with colorful lights, of beautiful gingerbread houses and winning prizes. This is the season when the Christmas story is told over and over, reminding us of the simple way in which the Christ child came into this world. In other households, the story of Hanukkah reminds people of the miracle of the oil witnessed by the Maccabees.

32 people attended a breakfast to mark the anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor.

The Saline Area Historical Society invites the public to Christmas on the Farm at the Rentschler Farm Museum, 1265 E. Michigan Ave., Saline.

Local kids collected goodies from merchants and met Frosty and Santa during the annual Treasure Trail to Santa event held at the Busch's shopping center Saturday.
