The Hornets put a tough week behind them and booted Woodhaven out of the MHSAA Division 1 girls’ soccer district with a 4-1 victory Tuesday at Saline High School.

Saline (12-8-1) advanced to the district semifinal against Monroe, which will be played at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at Southgate Anderson. Saline defeated Monroe 7-0 May 16. The district championship game will be played Friday night.

The warning is issued until 7 p.m. by the National Weather Service.

Here's our gallery from the annual Memorial Day Parade through downtown Saline.

84 runners crossed the finish line in the first Memorial Day Mile run in Saline.

All school athletes are required to have an annual physical on file with the school,

Russell Arthur Michalke, a 1966 Saline High School graduate, was killed in Vietnam in 1968.

Memorial Day activities include the annual parade, programs at Oakwood Cemetery and the Saline American Legion, a breakfast at the fire hall and a race downtown.

Saturday, 2013 May 25th

The arrangement with the Michigan Brewers Guild will bring several breweries to the festival, including Bell’s, Arcadia Ales, Ann Arbor Brewing Company and New Holland Brewing Company.

Elisha L. Bolen, age 53,  of Troy, passed away on Friday, May 24, 2013 at the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor. She was born February 6, 1960, the daughter of Fletcher E. and Rhema M. (Paschal) Bolen.

Volunteering takes 1-2 hours a day.

The first of two races begins at the four corners at 9:30 a.m. Monday.

The Saline girls’ track and field team clinched the 2013 SEC Red title by winning the SEC Conference meet at Skyline May 23.

The  regional champs, who were undefeated in dual meets, sprinted away with the league meet with 219 points. No other school had more than 76 points.

Saline had winners all over the meet.

Thrower Randi Bennett was league champ in the discus and shot put. Bennett threw 109-07 to win the discus. Erin Connor was fourth and Amelia Wittig was fifth. In the shot put, Bennett threw 38 feet. Connor was fifth.

Friday, 2013 May 24th

A man was treated for injuries after a pepper bomb he was building blew up in his face at Thorncrest Apartments. Later that day, he was arrested for trespassing at the apartment complex.

On Wednesday, Key Bank held its annual "Neighbors Make a Difference Day." Key Bank closed for the afternoon and staff and friends worked to spruce up the downtown area.

This year, they were joined by several members of the City's staff and some Saline Main Streeters. The team weeded and cleaned up downtown and around City Hall, making things look beautiful for Memorial Day.

Pioneer built a 4-0 lead midway through the first half, leaving the Hornets with a lot of work to do.
