Saline agriscience instructor and FFA advisor David Mellor was awarded an Honorary American FFA Degree at the 85th National FFA Convention, Oct. 24-27 in Indianapolis.


Longtime planning commissioner Richard Nehring will be honored by Mayor Gretchen Driskell.

Saline City Council will meet at 6 p.m. Monday to review the Capital Improvement Projects plan

School board will decide on CARES grants, bond refunding and discuss strategic planning and board member evaluations.


The city earned "bronze" status in the Michigan Green Communities challenge. Saline was recognized for its electric vehicle charging station, its work with DTE Energy to install LED streetlights, and new non-motorized path linking Brecon Park and the Saline District Library.

Kevin Hall, Anthony Lamus, and Dylan Jennings made the Academic All-State Team, while Saline finished third in average GPA among state finals teams.


About 40 volunteers helped out at Saturday's electronic waste recycling event, which is expected to raise about $2,500 for the Fifth Corner Teen Center.

The Hornets battled into the final minute against the defending state champs, booting a late field goal and then recovering the onside kick for a chance to win the game.


For more than a quarter of a century, Salinians have been getting up early on Saturday mornings for holiday shopping at the local school,.


The event, which takes place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., could raise close to $2,500 for Saline's teen center.

Everyone said Obama needed to win big in District 52 for Driskell to have any chance at winning, but Driskell outpolled Ouimet by 3,037 while Obama outpolled Romney by 2,177. In that sense, Driskell outperformed President Obama.

The Saline Craft Show at the Saline Middle School needs all of the parking at Liberty School so the Winter Farmers Market will be closed on Saturday, November 10.  Be sure to visit this fabulous Craft Show.

It was a successful opening of the Indoor Winter Farmers Market on Saturday, November 3 with over 25 vendors with a wide variety of produce, baked goods, specialty items and crafts of all kinds.  The Winter Market will continue on Saturday, November 17.  

Open 9 a.m. - noon, November-April at Liberty School, 7265 Saline Ann Arbor Road.
