Construction to complete the sidewalk to Mill Pond Park should begin in early October.

Construction on South Ann Arbor Street is expected to begin Oct. 1 after city council approved a $191,402 payment to DN Higgins at Monday’s council meeting.

The project will:

  • Repave the street
  • Reconstruct the road in some areas.
  • Improve drainage.
  • Install an ADA compliant crosswalk.

The project begins after Oktoberfest.

New pavement markings were also approved on South Harris Street.

In addition, city council gave the green light to plans build an eight-foot wide sidewalk connecting the Cypress Ridge Bennett Street sidewalk to the path in Mill Pond Park. That project is expected to cost $47,000 and could start as early as Oct. 2.

Saline DPW Director Jeff Fordice said the city will release a detour and more information about the project later this week.
