Saline Mayor Brian Marl and County Commissioners Felicia Brabec and Shannon Beeman will host a "Community Listening Session" at Saline City Hall, 100 N. Harris St., at 1 p.m., Sunday.

Mayor Marl said forum will build on Wednesday's rally for diversity and inclusiveness which, he said, demonstrated that the majority of people in Saline are decent, compassionate and tolerant.

"As I have stated numerous times this past week, racism-bigotry-discrimination will not be tolerated or ignored," Marl said. "Further, if our goal is to promote diversity and understanding, we need to do more, and together, we will do more."

Marl said the event is an opportunity for people to share their experiences with elected officials.

"The aim of this meeting is to acknowledge and witness the wrongs created by individual and systemic racism as well as an opportunity to listen and honor other experiences as we all work together to determine a path forward," Marl said. "When grounded in empathy and oriented toward equity, racial healing has restorative potential and affirms the inherent value of all people."
