The Washtenaw County Road Commission will host a public meeting on its plans to build a roundabout at the intersection of Scio Church and Wagner roads.
The meeting takes place at 6 p.m., May 4, at the Washtenaw Intermediate School District,, 735 S. Wagner Road, in the Vogel Room C.
A compact urban roundabout will be built at the intersection of Scio Church and Wagner Roads to reduce peak period congestion that occurs at this intersection. The roundabout will be similar to the one built at Ann Arbor-Saline Road and Textile Road in 2016. The project was awarded by MDOT to D&R Earthmoving, LLC at the bid price of $670,668.00.
The project is scheduled to begin on or after June 19, 2017. Construction is expected last between six and eight weeks. The Scio Church and Wagner intersection will be closed to all users except those who live or own property inside the job site. Click here to view the project webpage and view the detour route and sign up for email updates. Garbage and mail service will continue during construction for property owners internal to the job site.
The Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office will likely be monitoring the intersection and issuing citations as warranted to those drivers who violate the road closure. As a reminder, per state law traffic fines are double for road construction violations. Additional points can also be attached to your driving record for violations in a work zone.
