Nick Huetteman, of Boy Scout Troop 457, speaks to Saline City Council about his plans to construct a bike rack at Mill Pond Park.

Boy Scout Nick Huetteman has received the city's blessing to construct a bicycle rack at Mill Pond Park. Huetteman addressed Saline City Council Monday to speak about his Eagle Scout project.

Heutteman previous obtained the approval of the city's parks commission April 16.

He met with Parks and Rec Director Carla Scruggs May 9 to review his plans. The rack will be located between the pavilion and the parking lot.

The project is expected to cost around $1,000. Construction will take place this summer - away from major events like the Saline Celtic Festival and the family campout.

Mayor Brian Marl thanked Huetteman for his contribution to the community.

"Saline is a very bicycle-friendly community and I expect a bike rack will be well used at Mill Pond Park," Marl said.
