With every restaurant's dining room in town closed due to COVID-19, curbside pickup has become a popular way of offering food.

In Downtown Saline, Salt Springs Brewery, Carrigan Cafe, Enchanted Oven and The Cheese Shop of Saline are mong the restaurants currently offering food with curbside pickup service. Mac's Acadian Seafood Shack will join that group Wednesday.

The City of Saline, in an effort to support the downtown businesses, is creating more room for curbside pickup on Ann Arbor Street starting Wednesday. A new traffic control order will take effect Wednesday and run until the end of the month.

"I think this is helpful to (the restaurants), helpful to their customers and may go a long way in helping them survive and stop treading water during this very precarious economic time," Mayor Brian Marl said during Monday's city council meeting.

Police Chief Jerrod Hart said the order, in effect from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.,  will dedicate all parking spaces to curbside pickup on Ann Arbor Street, between McKay and Henry streets.
