At Monday’s city council meeting Saline Mayor Brian Marl remarked on the violence in Charlottesville, Va. Marl’s remarks were unexpected, therefore, please excuse the video quality.
Here is Mayor Marl’s statement:
In light of recent events, in Virginia and elsewhere, and as your Mayor, I feel compelled to issue the following statement:
The City of Saline stands in solidarity with any community that is besieged by hate mongers, deviants or incorrigibles.
No reasonable personal should object to the following statement: White supremacy and Nazism are not compatible with Americanism.
The United States stands for the proposition that we are all created equally and should be afford basic rights under the law, including freedom and opportunity.
Locally, the City of Saline has and will continue to value all of our citizens regardless of personal characteristics. If you work hard, play by the rules and contribute to our community, you will always be welcome and supported here. We will continue to strive to make our area a safe and inclusive place for all of our residents.
