With Suicide on Rise, Panel Meets to Discuss Resources

Washtenaw County Public Health and community partners are hosting a Suicide Prevention Town Hall on from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday Feb 7. Suicide attempts and suicide completions have increased in Washtenaw County, especially among young people 15-24 years. Local advocates and mental health and prevention experts will be available to talk about resources and answer questions.

The Washtenaw County Suicide Prevention Town Hall will be held at the Washtenaw County Learning Resource Center, 4135 Washtenaw Ave., Ann Arbor.

Confirmed panelists are Dr. Cynthia Ewell Foster, Director, University Center for the Child and Family, Michigan Medicine; Holly Heaviland, Executive Director of Community and School Partnerships, Washtenaw Intermediate School District; John Kettley, Administrative Director, University of Michigan Psychiatry Emergency Services, Michigan Medicine; and Elizabeth Spring, Program Administrator, Washtenaw County Community Mental Health.
