Bill Boswell, Tool and Die Maker, Worked Nearly 40 Years for Ford

William "Bill" David Boswell, age 81, passed away Thursday, September 27, 2018 at St. Joseph Hospital Ann Arbor, MI surrounded by his family.  He was born November 16, 1936 the son of Howard and Nellie (Brewer) of Boyle County, KY. 

After graduation from Forkland High School in 1954, he worked on the family farm for a number of years.  In 1965, the family moved to Ypsilanti, MI.  Bill was hired by Ford Motor Company in Ypsilanti as a line worker. He was accepted in the apprenticeship program, and became a Journeyman Tool and Die Maker.  He retired from Ford in 2004 after 39 ½ years of service. He had been a member of Washtenaw Sportsman’s Club, as well as other organizations for many years.  Besides enjoying time with his family and friends, he enjoyed watching college basketball, UK to be specific, and he was an avid bird hunter.  A large part of his life included raising, training, and hunting with his dogs.  He also enjoyed camping throughout the United States and traveling abroad.   

He is survived by three children, Edna (Terence) Ensign of Manchester, Marilyn (Norris) Holderman of Perryville, KY and David (Sharon) Boswell of Saline.  Grandchildren, Jennifer (Jim) Portaro of McDonald, PA, Amanda Ensign of Manchester, McKenzy (Zack) Chaffin of Bowling Green, KY, Daniel Boswell of Saline, Stephanie (Ryan) Stuck of Clinton, Miya Holderman of Bowling Green, KY.  Great-grandchildren, Lucas and Christian Portaro, Keegan Holderman, Braxton and Merritt Chaffin, and Jacob and Autumn Stuck.  Also surviving is sister-in-law Elsie Boswell of Danville, KY, several nieces, nephews, and his hunting dog, Gunner.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, October 2, 2018 from 9:00 A.M.-11:30 A.M. at the Robison-Bahnmiller Funeral Home, Saline.   The service will follow at 11:30 A.M.  with Rev. William F. Natsis officiating.  There will be a private family burial at Oak Grove Cemetery in Chelsea.   Memorial contributions may be made to the American Red Cross.  Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.  To leave a memory, to sign Bill’s guestbook, or for more information or directions please visit
