Herbert Lange, Served in the Coast Guard in WW II, Founded Appliance and Electric Business

Herbert Carl Lange, 90 of Saline, passed away peacefully at Memory Lane with family by his side on Wednesday, January 24, 2018.

Herb was born on July 20, 1927 to Albert and Lillian (Teschke) Lange in Saline where he lived his entire life. In 1947 he married Donna Little, and together they had 4 children. In 1972, Herb married his loving wife Ruth Drake and she survives.

Herb is also survived by seven children; Sandra Diem, Patricia Quick, Dawn (Tom) Lillie, Jeff (Pat) Lange, Don (Anita) Drake, Sue Trachet, and Beverly (Eddie) Camp. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Herb was preceded in death by his parents and six siblings.

Herb was a master electrician and appliance repair specialist who founded Lange Appliance and Electric Service in 1955 before retiring in 1985. Herb proudly served in the United States Coast Guard during WWII. He was a lifelong member of St. Paul United Church of Christ in Saline and sang in the choir for many years. He loved traveling, hunting, fishing and gardening. He and Ruth had a special place in the North Woods in Curran, Mich., for over 30 years and spent as much time as possible there.

A memorial service will he held at a later date at St. Paul United Church of Christ in Saline. Memorial contributions in Herb’s name may be made to St. Paul United Church of Christ or to Arbor Hospice.
